Description
Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) have emerged as key regulators of gene expression and guides for protein-based molecular machines in both eukaryotes and bacteria. While many ncRNAs have been identified and characterized, a central challenge is to understand how they function within complex regulatory networks and how these networks shape cellular processes. Addressing this challenge requires a comprehensive view of ncRNA interactions and activities across different biological contexts.
The research investigates the diversity, functions, and network organization of major ncRNA classes. In eukaryotes, it examines how microRNAs and long non-coding RNAs regulate gene expression by mapping their interactions and effects on cellular processes. In bacteria, it explores how small RNAs contribute to regulatory outcomes by linking RNA genotypes, phenotypes, and global target interaction networks.
