Description
Nucleic acid–based therapeutics are creating new opportunities to treat disease by directly targeting genetic and transcriptomic processes. This research area focuses on developing the next generation of nucleic acid medicines and addressing the fundamental challenges that currently limit their broader application. A central goal is to improve the precision, efficacy, and accessibility of therapies that act on DNA and RNA.
The research combines the discovery and validation of therapeutic nucleic acid targets with the development of strategies for their manipulation. Particular emphasis is placed on overcoming delivery barriers, enabling selective targeting of disease-relevant cells and tissues, and expanding approaches for transcriptome and genome engineering. The project also explores new therapeutic modalities, including RNA-targeting strategies, programmable oligonucleotide therapeutics, and gene editing technologies. By integrating advances from nucleic acid biology, computation, and molecular engineering, the research aims to establish new principles for nucleic acid medicine and support the translation of these technologies into future clinical applications.
